Exhibition : 7th of June – 31thof July 2024
Art as an extension of nature goes back as far as we can remember in the memories of primitive peoples. From Aboriginal floral dances to Sumerian agricultural arts, including visionary legacies from Goethe to Ernst Zürcher, the natural question has accompanied humans since their genesis.
This awakening is not only an invitation to contemplate but also a call to action, a veil lifted from a sometimes secret garden. The contemporary works on display go beyond material boundaries to explore the spiritual connection between man and the animated world. Thus, Botany becomes a poetic, psychological anchor point, inviting everyone to deeply reflect on their relationship to the living.
The artists present a diversity of approaches, ranging from contemplative observation to sensitive exploration. The works do not limit themselves to capturing colors and shapes, but open doors to movement, whether visible or unmanifest. Like a stone that continues to be cut, these new scrolls inspire and reveal a new world.
In this aesthetic journey, the visitor is invited to connect with his intuition, through nature. The “Botanical Awakening” is a refuge where the mind can wander among the leaves and petals, seeking to rediscover a harmony lost in the immutable and nourishing rhythm of plant life. Each cycle has its seasons, its symbols, and its degrees. ANNE DE VILLEPOIX’S GALLERY invites us this time to a revolution of another order, where the clamors subside to give way to enthusiasm, a botanical awakening revealing the depth of multiple reading levels.
The desolation is behind us, and if other confinements are to come, plunging beings into a desperate search for bearings, it is imperative to break with the incessant flow of requests of our contemporary world. The lack can only be resolved through the correct understanding of what drives things, an initiation into the mysteries of life which is not always painless but for those who agree to go through the trials, a master key.
The insatiable subject “ RÉVEIL BOTANIQUE ” is not a nostalgic repetition of the past nor a fashion effect, but rather a daily requirement, of sensory hygiene.
In her artistic journey, RITA ALAOUI tells our relationship with the wild world. Fascinated by the immanence of nature and aware of the fragility of the world, she directs her approach towards the representation of a nature that is simple. Adopting a protocol reminiscent of botany or archaeology, she places collection, accumulation, and observation of seemingly banal natural objects at the heart of her work. Each fragment, whether bone, stone, seed, or plant, like a recipe, is invested with a practical dimension. Moving from painting to drawing, from photography to installation, from video performance to bookmaking, this versatility allows him to offer various modes of expression to bring his unique vision to life.
MARCELLABARCELO offers a palette of pinks and mauves. His compositions oscillate between romanticism and Edenic purity. Sometimes, they seem to tell of an ancient era when men rubbed shoulders with giants, a bygone age when nature and humanity lived differently. The delicate nuances of its colors evoke ethereal realms, whispering words of passage to ancestral verbs, stories buried in collective memory, recalling times when the boundaries between the sacred and the profane were permeable.
The gardens of SÉGOLÈNE KAN are full of mysteries. His landscapes, both refuges and revealers of mysteries, are inspired by his wanderings across the world. Initiated at the Beaux-Arts of Paris under the tutelage of Dominique Gauthier, Ségolène goes beyond academic teaching to engage in a universal quest. His works question the foundations of sacredness and peace. A committed artist, she does not just paint, she works for a dialogue between cultures and for global awareness. His exhibitions, true bridges between peoples, bear witness to his dedication to the human cause. Whether in Tbilisi, Kyiv, or Moscow, his paintings whisper a promise of peace and reconciliation, celebrating diversity and dialogue. Under her hand, the painting becomes prayer, the landscape prophecies, and Ségolène, the silent priestess of peace, continues to trace these paths of light through the darkness.
A curious traveler, ARMANDO MARIÑO explored Europe before settling in the Hudson Valley and then New York. His work is characterized by a powerful chromatic palette, influenced by magazines, digital iconography, and the colors of our screens. Inspired by the Fauvism and Die Brücke movements, he puts primary colors at the forefront, creating visual tension through vivid contrasts. Each work is constructed with multiple layers of oil paint, achieving an intense shine. Its presence in this collective exhibition brings an element of mystery.
